Model predictive control for autonomous forklifts

Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) has entrusted us with the development of a new control technology tailored specifically for forklifts operating in restricted spaces. This innovative system is designed to enable forklifts to navigate through narrow areas without the risk of collisions or causing damage.

Unlike many existing solutions, we are developing our own visualisation software, steering away from traditional platforms like Gazebo. Our custom-built visualisation tool is tailored to meet the specific needs of this project, enhancing both the accuracy and usability of the navigation system.

The core of our technology lies in its ability to safely guide forklifts through tight spaces where precision is key. By reducing the risk of accidents, we not only ensure the safety of personnel and infrastructure but also significantly improve the operational throughput. Warehouses will be able to optimise their layout without the limitations imposed by traditional forklift navigation systems.
