This robot detects weeds and pests using AI, significantly reducing the need for chemical pesticides, contributing to a more sustainable and eco-friendly farming approach. Additionally, the robot is equipped with advanced sensors and vision technology to monitor trees for diseases like apple canker and scab. This early detection allows for timely intervention, preventing the spread of disease and ensuring healthier trees, which directly improves the quality and yield of the fruit.
The robot enhances efficiency by automating repetitive tasks, enabling farmers to focus on more strategic activities. With the potential to boost orchard productivity by up to 30%, this solution not only optimises resource use but also aligns with modern sustainability goals. By reducing chemical inputs and fossil fuel consumption, it helps orchards achieve a smaller ecological footprint.
The robot is also equipped with LiDAR and hyperspectral cameras, which provide real-time monitoring of tree health and growth. This constant data collection enables informed decision-making for orchard management, ensuring both quality and quantity are maximised. Built upon a platform from Benedex that we re-engineered for this specific purpose, the robot is tailored to meet the unique challenges of orchard environments.
