Dyno Mini Forklift

Educational Autonomous Forklift Platform

Our Educational Autonomous Forklift Platform is a compact, fully functional robotics prototype designed and built in-house to support advanced university-level robotics education and research.

Standing approximately 57 cm tall, this scaled forklift system replicates the core principles of industrial autonomous vehicles in a safe, accessible, and highly adaptable format, making it ideal for hands-on learning in robotics, automation, and intelligent systems.

Designed for Robotics Education

This platform is specifically developed for university courses in:

  • Autonomous navigation
  • SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping)
  • Sensor fusion
  • Computer vision
  • ROS 2 development
  • Control systems and motion planning

Students gain practical experience working with real-world robotics architectures in a manageable lab-scale system.

Advanced Sensor Configuration

The forklift can be equipped with:

  • 2D LiDAR for navigation and mapping
  • 3D LiDAR for advanced perception and environmental modeling
  • Optional front-mounted camera for distance estimation and vision-based applications

This flexible sensor setup enables everything from basic navigation exercises to advanced perception and AI experiments.

Modular & Service-Friendly Design

Nearly the entire mechanical structure is 3D printed, making the platform:

  • Easy to repair
  • Simple to modify
  • Cost-efficient to maintain
  • Ideal for rapid prototyping and student-led design changes

Spare parts can be reproduced quickly, and structural adjustments can be implemented without complex manufacturing processes.

Fully Integrated Robotics Architecture

The system is powered by:

  • Raspberry Pi integrated directly with the drive system
  • Dynamixel-based drivetrain for precise motion control
  • Custom-built battery system
  • Full support for ROS 2

This architecture provides a modern, industry-relevant software and hardware stack suitable for both teaching and research.
